BJ8 blower motor switch - how to replace?

Is there any easy way to replace the blower motor switch in a BJ8? I'm thinking remove the console & radio first, which should provide enough access to get the whole heat control mechanism out. But I'm hoping there's an easier way.
Thanks, Andy

I just had to deal with that limited access recently when I stupidly broke the plastic heater control panel by trying to re-position the cold air cable to clear the heater box without first removing it from the panel. You'll have to remove the console as a minimum. I started this episode to replace the two heater hoses so the heater box had been lowered for access to that. I'm not sure if that is required to replace the blower switch, but access to the switch is much better with the heater box lowered. There is a stack of spacers and washers on each side of the switch that secure it to the plastic control panel. The heater blower control knob attaches to the slide lever with a small slotted screw on the bottom side. Good luck!
