Mickey - what speed are you paying for?

Mine is $50/mo for "up to 100 mbps".
 
My plan says "UP TO" 100 Mbps.
 
Oh, and I believe your wifi will slow it down. My Roku box is connected to the router via ethernet cable.
 
I'm using direct ethernet also. Still get around 19 mbps, altho' maybe 25 in the "wee hours".

Maybe a poll is in order ...

I see you have xfinity (so do I). How hard was it to go to internet only? I have read horror stories about calling them to cancel their cable and they raise (double?) the internet only portion of your bill.

Yeah, they didn't like it when I dropped cable for Direct TV; you definitely do better with bundling. But we don't have any other viable option here, so I'm still with them. Can't complain about the service, though.

Elliot, Xfinity was a total nightmare to get dropped from full cable to internet only. Got the runaround "here's a better deal" spiel about 50 times before they finally got the message that I didn't want to pay for cable anymore.
I'm thinking regular cable TV must be hemorrhaging customers for them to fight this hard to keep people from leaving.
 
Thanks for sharing that. I’m expecting the same scenario when I tell them I’m canceling my cable. Before I actually do that, I will give YouTube TV a try to make sure we like it prior to cutting the cord.
 
Just now (10:30 am) ran speedtest.net and got download 117 and upload of 10 mbps. I think Mickey is onto something related to where or how you test speed since that 117 seems really high. I think I pay cox cable about $60/month for internet only. Dropped cable TV over a year ago. To eliminate buffering, I had to get a new AC class router and rarely ever see any delays since then.
 
I cut the cord two years ago and use Netflix and Amazon Prime.
 
Mickey's right about the speed differences from different test sites. Also important, which "node" the test site chooses.

Funny - I just tried the xfinity site test, and got 19 mbps. Then did Speedtest.net, and got ... 19.5 mbps. Both sites chose nodes very close to me (Foxborough and Oxford MA).
