General TR Wire wheels - tire mounting/balancing - Southern California

Anyone have a recommendation for a good shop that can properly mount and balance tires on wire wheels in the Riverside County area? The wheels are new and do not require tubes. I am OK driving out to SD/LA/OC if need be.

I know you are looking in your area. But you might consider Wheel Repair Service of NE. Probably wouldn't cost too much to ship to them.

Here is a place I know about, but have had no dealings with them. They are close to a electrical rebuilder I have used : https://g.co/kgs/on5RVq

Give a call to Morgan West in Santa Monica.....they likely can do it, or refer you to a qualified shop.

That is a good idea. And if you know any low riders, I would ask them as well.

Don't be too sure. I just spent about $200 to have my wheels and tires shipped one way from NC to MA.

From Hendrix Wire Wheel in Greensboro perhaps? I used them when I last bought tires for our GT6. They did a good job for me.

I know you are looking to have it done, but I bought new 60 spoke chromes for my TR3, and bought a HF mounting machine, 2 tire irons, and a bubble balancer. Did them myself for less money than having it done, and it worked out fine. My wheels are from MWS in UK, and haven't lost a bit of air in a year.

I also use the HF tire mounter and a bubble balancer. The tall sidewalls on our tires are pretty easy to get on the rims. For wires I remove the adapter hub for one wheel and mount it to the the tire mounter, keeps the wire rim secure without stressing or bending a spoke.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I bought the painted wires from TR shop in London, hopefully they will not leak air.

Yes, Doug. Great work by Hendrix. This is my second set he's mounted, balanced, trued and shaved. Not inexpensive, but worth it if you want to avoid the Healey shakes. Also their balancing of my rear drums helped as well.

+1 on Hendrix. They mounted new Michelins on MWS wires, balanced, trued and shaved them for me. My TR rides glass smooth, steers and stops true and straight. Worth every penny!

I had the same exact experience with Hendrix. The shaving that they do is really the icing on the cake. I've never driven a car that feels as smooth as my TR3 at all speeds.
