Spotted in France

My wife and I are on a cruise on the Rhone River in central France. Yesterday on an excursion off the boat, we were in a bus traveling north of Tournon. Looking out the bus window, I caught the familiar shape of a 3000, a convertible I think, Blue over white, passing in the other direction. I turned in time to see it disappear over a rise. What a surprise to see one on a French country road on a Sunday afternoon. Later an MGB, a 1970's Corvette and a Triumph Spitfire passed the bus. At our stop, I heard the unmistakable sound of a hot American V8 and there was a 1972 Mustang. I talked to the owner who informed me he had just returned from a car show nearby. That explained all the classics on the road. Not something I expected to see on vacation, but I guess people everywhere appreciate old cars.

G’day Rob, well spotted. There are six Austin-Healey 3000s from Queensland touring Europe at the moment. They are ultimately headed fo the European Meet in the Black Forest next month. Wouldn’t it be a coincidence if you spotted them!
Cheers,
Alwyn

Hi Rob,

Don’t be surprised... in France there's a lot fans of classic cars. I’m living close to Lyon in the Rhône Alpes region, in Bourg en Bresse. I’m member of the Austin Healey club Rhone Alpes, just in this region 65 Austin Healeys are known !!
If you are still in France contact me if you want to pass at home ...you’re welcome, you’re my guest ...

We are eleven Healeys owners traveling from LA to attend the European Healey Meet in Rust Germany. Our cars arrived in Rotterdam last weekend and we pick them up Saturday to start our three week tour of Europe and attend the week long Healey Meet.

There will be many Healeys converging on Rust over the next couple week so keep your eyes open...

What an amazing travel !!!
What a pity !! for professional reason, I could not be apart of this fantastic meeting...
if you would like and have time to pass to Lyon or Bourg en Bresse ....you’re welcome ...even with 11 Healeys !!
Enjoy your trip and welcome to Europe ...!!

Hmmm, usually it's the other way around; rust converging ON a Healey!

Sounds like a great time, have fun, and good luck

Xte, thank you for the invitation but we're leaving in the morning for home. Let me say France is an amazing country, so beautiful, so much history, wonderful food, great wine and the friendliest people. The old idea that the French people are rude to Americans is completely out of date. We have been treated with kindness and warm hospitality. I was apprehensive about how we would be received after the way we have treated our European allies recently, but we have felt completely welcome.
If you haven't had the opportunity to make your way to France, put it on your list.
