1956 Nasty Boy

This morning it was at $100 with one bid, quite a big jump in a couple of hours.

Looks like the 2014 auction ended at $13.5k with reserve not met when it was for sale in Massachusetts. That auction said it had the fuelie vette motor. https://www.ebay.com/itm/151360635464?rmvSB=true Presumably, this seller bought it after that auction and has been hanging onto it. Paint started to be stripped, then gave up. There's nothing there that's ringing my bells, other than the motor, and in the old days I would've called it a "roach". If he gets $10k, I'd take the money and run

I'd call $10K a gift (forgive marginally inappropriate comment)

I would've gone $5k as more reasonable but bumped it up to $10 when I saw the $13.5 previous bid. $5k would be my max if I was in the market for that kind of project. It needs just about everything and you still have a "widebody" 100 when you're done, even if you keep it as a nasty. Lots of money will go into it to make it look and run good.

I don't think it got from MA to NJ under its own power.

I think we might be surprised at what this is going to sell for.

get the motor going and braking system and you have a ....maybe decent rat rod!!! only needs a couple more rat features and there you are!

There is something a bit suspicious about this car and its recent history. The last 2 times it was on Ebay, both in MA, it had a title. Now all of a sudden it is in NJ and is sold only with a bill of sale.

I'm not sure if Jersey is the same as New York but before a certain year there are no titles issued when you go to register it, only a transferable registration. If this is the case I would hope he would have stated that.

there is more info on facebook...race and modified healeys and mg midgets...i don't know how to post a link! interesting comments there.

Here they are:

"I owned this car in 2012. The car was running and driving then, with minimal front brakes only. The car came from the south eastern part of Ma. I spoke with the guy who built it. There was a title when I bought it, although not with correct Healey vin #. The Hot Rod builder that bought it from me didn’t do any of the building of car so you are aware of that. Builder told me that rear end and 3 speed trans are from a ā€˜56 Chevy. This is a very solid car. I regret selling it, but was/am in the middle of a ā€˜60 BN7 V8 build."

Here is what the seller has to say
" I bought the car about a month ago. I live in NJ and traveled to Mass. 2 times to personally inspect from top to bottom before buying. The Healey is very solid and has no major issues that I am aware of. I really like the look of the car. I actually bid on this car about 5 years ago before the previous owner bought it. There are a couple pics on pinterest of the car painted years ago. The previous owner started preping for paint and stopped due to health issues, the reason for the surface rust.I have the original title when he bought it but he signed the buyer line. I also have a bill of sale from him to me. Not looking to make money, the reserve is what I have into it. Selling this and a 69 charger to buy a 356 that came up after I bought this one. Thanks"
