Bugeye seat back frame

This shows the back of the seat frame, at the bottom edge, where the seat cover attaches:

There are two "lips" of metal running along the bottom. One takes clips for the rear of the cover, and the other for the front.

My front seat cover ( the pleated section) appears to be too long by about 3/4 to 1" in order for it to properly clip on.

Only solution I see is to re-stitch it about that much higher to make it tight enough. Make sense? Any suggestions from those in the know about fitment of these covers?

Do these seats appear original? I am not sure about that. Thought they are, but do not know. First bugeye I have done.

Appreciate your looking and any ideas !!!!!!!!!

Well now.......not a single one knows enough about this job?

I pulled one of my seats and this is the way mine are clipped in. Hope this helps.
