What happened to summer?

Woke up yesterday morning to howling wind and 23 degrees. Felt like 5 above. Today was still cold with less wind. Did some birdwatching down by the shore with my daughter. First day my earflaps were down. How cold was it where you are?

Somehow, I don't think you really want to hear my answer. High today was 75. Blue skies, just a few fluffy clouds with a light breeze. Getting a little chilly tonight, though, it's already below 60. I might even have to find a jacket when I go out

Been pleasant in New Mexico the last few days - maybe a little cool.

Bit chilly overnight, getting too close to dipping below 60*. Daytime hitting mid-80's. May soon need to break out the shoes 'n socks.

Never had much summer here in eastern Connecticut. Temps usually in the 60s and 70s, with lots of rain.

Until mid August! Then we did a 180; temps in the 80s and 90s, no rain for weeks. Stayed warm until about two weeks ago; we had to postpone the big harvest up at Sturbridge Village.

Last couple of days we've been in the 30s and 40s, so I'm (trans)planting two new trees today. Ashmead's Kernel and Honeysweet Pear, then flushing the MG fuel tank.

I was tempted to turn on the heat as I worked in the garage yesterday . . . 10 degrees. Woke up to a heat wave this morning . . . 30 degrees! Moved from MN to WI almost 50 yrs ago to get away from the cold. Good move.

JFS - when I was a grad student at UW-Madison in the 1970s, a prof did a survey of weather in Wisconsin over the previous 100 years. His conclusion:

Wisconsin cannot support human life.

Cold here also - 14 deg F the other day calling for highs around 40 this week - Grrr (or should I say Brrr)

JFS - when I was a grad student at UW-Madison in the 1970s, a prof did a survey of weather in Wisconsin over the previous 100 years. His conclusion:

Wisconsin cannot support human life.

No survey done but I commuted to the University of New Hampshire (35 miles one way) in the decade prior to that in my TR3. I won't try to compare Wisconsin and New Hampshire winters, but from my perspective, It was cold.
Yesterday we were between 21 and 47, just a few degrees lower than "seasonal".

I refereed a soccer game this morning at 8am outside. Temps in the high 20's. I did the game in shorts but had about four shirts on under my ref shirt. Games were shortened to 50 minutes so it wasn't too bad.

Of course because while 50 minutes of weather in the high 20's wearing a pair of shorts is just fine, 60 minutes is cruel and inhumane punishment.

No complaints from me. Regular length games are 90 minutes and that would be cruel!
