TR2/3/3A Wiindshield - top rubber seal.

I hate to admit this, but I made an error when I re-assembled my windscreen. I cut the top seal a bit too short, sigh................
My question is, can I replace the top rubber seal with the windscreen in place or is it a bench project?
I assembled it all so long ago I don't remember. It looks kind of bad now and since it sits out there in font of god and everyone else, I feel the need to replace it.

Your thoughts and ideas are greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Dick

Dick,
its not a hard job. Think you can do it without pulling the w/s off but worst case its only three screws on each side to left it out.

I see no reason why it cannot be done with the windscreen in place. Use lube (dishwashing soap) and usually pulling it stretches a bit to make it thinner for easier fitting.

The problem may not be that you cut it too short - but rather that it shrank. Rubber does that - so does the 'chrome' locking strip on a TR4 windscreen. It can take it a long time to finally stop shrinking so if there is any way you can leave it a bit long for awhile it might be a good idea.

If you are talking about the very top, then the lip is rather long. The only way I have been able to install it is by sliding up along the side, from one of the bottom corners. Of course, to do that you must undo the 3 chrome screws along one of the stanchions and remove the stanchion and tenon plate. That should be doable on the car...as long as you protect the scuttle from the weight of the assembly with one side removed.
