TR6 Need to pass CA smog, Los Angeles

I am looking for a shop that can adjust the ZS carbs on my '76 TR-6 so it will pass CA smog. At this time I'm not looking to get it tuned so it runs well. I need it to pass smog. I would like to find a shop that has a CO analyzer and maybe a dyno. (The car's been garaged for 15 years. I had a guy who go it running so smooooth. I took it next door to the smog shop and got a gross polluter.:apologetic:smile:

Any suggestions?
 
That could be a challenge...finding a shop that actually knows how to adjust ZS carbs and not insist on replacing them with SU carbs. Good Luck !
 
What happened?? I thought The Republic of California was passing a bill to extend the no smog requirements through 1980 model years.

There may be other issues at work other than just the carbs. Timing, distributor, vac. retard, air pump, thermostatic vac valves, etc., etc., etc. Everything is going to have to be in proper working order if you stand a chance to pass. Doesn't the smog station give you a report as to what the numbers were of the various gases (NOx, HC, CO etc.)?? That would help in determining where the problems are. But your are right, you're still going to need someone with an exhaust gas analyzer to get things straightened out.

Our great state of California would not want to lose their self imposed title of the " State with the most strict smog laws". That is unless they could make more money by doing such. In this case they get more prestige by making owners get the smog tests.
In the other case they just renewed the "Cap and Trade" legislation that allows companies to buy credits from the State to be able to go ahead and pollute. Then the politicians get more money to spend.
