T-Rex, rubber ducky and penguin......

Sadly, I'd imagine very few people these days have ever seen a boot, a thimble, or a wheelbarrow.

Well Tom, sorry to say, I remember them all, many times over!:rolleyes2:
When people ask me how old I am, I just say, how old is dirt! :highly_amused:

.
Why mess with it?

Because they can. And they aren't telling you the plan.

Next year you will find, when you get out your game board, with the old pieces, you will find it locked.
The old pieces are no longer supported, and you are required to download the new pieces.

There will be workarounds, with knitted covers to fit over the old pieces to hide what they really are, but folks will start migrating to other board games shortly after the announcement of dropping support.

Just wait.

 True! Mind you I haven't been able to get batteries for my game pieces for years now and have been forced to move them manually.

And it will get worse. Spokesmen for the company today revealed that they will "lock" pieces that are out of support range. They warn that this may happen in the middle of a game or whilst driving. The pieces may either freeze on the gameboard or re-boot (or re-thimble?) to the start place. You are encouraged to give up your comfortable pieces and upgrade now.

I'm protesting. Next time I play, I'm going to use a Whitworth nut as my piece.

That may end up with a visit from the authorities.
The update engine will inspect your pieces remotely, but will not be able to detect "whitworth" if you are set to "en-us". All it will see is "NUT" and the nice young men in their clean white coats will come and take you away.

Already happened SWMBO is a rather err umm "focussed" player who hates to loose. I have booted the game more than once.

Haven't heard from Napoleon XIV in a while - thanks for that...

Interesting article on TV the other night on Monopoly games during WW II. The British figured out a way to send the games to POWs in German camps with secret messages hidden under the game face covering, along with maps of the area and money. If a game had a red dot in various areas, it meant something was under the face cover, the area of the dot told what was under the cover. Quite a few escapes were made using the secret articles in the games. I don't think the Germans ever figured it out as the games were destroyed just before the guys escaped, no evidence! PJ
