Went to Grandparents' Day at grandson #1's kindergarten yesterday. Fun watching the kids interacting; went to his classroom and he proudly showed us around. We were impressed with everything... until we noticed this message on the board:

Yes, that's an apostrophe where it doesn't belong. Teacher needs to go back to school, methinks.

Did you consider that the teacher was welcoming your exclamation point? :eagerness:

I know a woman whose husband has No Regret's tattoed on his neck - pretty sure he had at least one

She can always get a job at Starbucks

After talking with 100s of student teachers over the years, I find that very few ever have to do any real writing (other than one or two sentences). Grammar, punctuation, spelling? Not mentioned from middle school and up. Today's it's "keyboarding" - not writing.

As so many say these days - why worry about those things, when the smartphone fixes all the problems for me?

yeesh

OK - back to my cave.

My hand writing has never been good. Going back to my early report cards I would get "Writing MUST improve" comments but cursive was the normal progression after learning to print.
Now cursive is becoming a lost art which will put so many documents out of reach for the majority of the population.
My sister is part of a group in Australia that is transcribing old shipping records into a database. I think that she is still in section before steamboats.

On the other hand (see what I did there) thank goodness I have never made such a simple mistake - especially publicly - oh wait.

Irregardless of the board I hope the rest of the visit was special.

irregardless ... ?

:jester:

OK, I could care less... (Makes just as much sense as "irregardless".)

And Elliot, go ahead and take your pole. How long is it, by the way?

Or a 10 foot poll. :wink-new:
