Drive down memory road.

Had some extra time this morning.
so I took the back roads & spotted some pretty cool cars.

1. 1954 Ford Crestline
2. 1950 Chevrolet Fleetline
3. 1966-67 Dodge Charger
4. 1939 Plymouth
 
1950 Chevy fleet line, I had one fully customized. Some guy begged me for it and I sold it at my price. A year later I saw it for the first time after selling it and what a surprise, it looked like apiece of junk! Needless to say, when I saw it it was parked in front of a bar! When I sell a car now, I never want to see it again. :rolleyes: PJ

Spotted this nice dodge on the way back from Asheville on the back roads.
(went thru the Biltmore mansion.....would love to see the family cars!)

State Highways are a great place for barn finds & cool cars.
 
There's a Facebook group called "Diamonds in the Rust" that is nothing but pictures of these cars in the back country. It's really astonishing seeing how much is still actually out there waiting either for restoration or to return to the earth.
 
Beg to differ on car number four. It's a 1939 Pontiac. My dad had one. Maroon paint. Plymouth had headlights in the fenders. My Aunt Sally had one.

Right you are. As soon as I read your "Plymouth had the headlights in the fenders", I realized my mistake.
 
39 Plymouth had a vertical grille. So did most 1930s cars. Ford had smaller grilles starting in 1939. Remember boys - I was there...

Body design didn't change much between 39-48 (at least for Plymouth).
how about the drivetrain, etc?
 
L-head 6-cylinder engine and 3-speed column shift. Very smooth and reliable combination but no hot rod. Plymouth V8 came later.
