soft plug leaking

Racers. Of course racer can't use antifreeze on the track. I knew that. Sorry racers. I wasn't thinking of you for a moment. That won't happen again.

I finished putting the engine back together with new soft/freeze/casting/welch plugs installed. Ran it for 30 min or so while we tuned it in. No leaks. Runs nice! My cheeks hurt from smiling every time I hit the button and it fires right up. Idles nice. I couldn't be happier.

You forgot "Welch" :rolleye:

That's great news, and I hope you can drive it a few times before the big freeze sets in!

Edit: added welch to plug description. Accuracy is important.

It's getting the final touches on the brakes, and a rebuilt steering box installed. It'll hit the road soon...with no body panels!

I drove my original TR4 like that - just the basic body shell and the driver's seat, man, it was quick! The neighbors weren't impressed, but at least no one reported me :friendly_wink:

The racers. I believe it's verboten on tracks because if it's spilled it's very slippery (might be fun in a drifting contest I suppose).
Never been illegal on any track in California. I spent 12 years racing spridgets in the SCCA mostly at Sears Point and Laguna, as well as Riverside and everyone used coolant. Think about it, oil is much worse. Besides, this is what the "Slippery" flag (blue with a yellow stripe) is for.

I stand corrected.
