My erstwhile business deals in batteries. Most of my competition has gone to Lithium, but I refuse (I know, I'm a freaking dinosaur), but one full house gone, one garage gone, that we know of, in this business due to Lithium batteries, and I just won't do it.
Not the first Tesla to have a battery fire, but I think first fatality due to that issue in a Tesla.

I have moved from Ni Cads to NiMH, which do the job admirably well.

Did you know most hybrids and electrics use some type of Lithium....except the Pry Us, which uses NiMH.

One can only hope that those two unfortunate souls were killed on impact & not by the fire.
