I am watching a movie where a woman gives her husband a new maroon TR7 coupe as a gift, he is quite excited, and goes on and on about how nice the car is. The go driving around and promptly go off a cliff avoiding a little kid on the street (no fault of the car). Movie went on into a whole different direction, and of course no more TR7. Anybody remember the movie?

Is it... possibly, The New Avengers? Lots of British steel in that show. I think Ms. Purdey drove a yellow one. I wouldn't be surprised if there was another one.

Here's a show that is pretty easy ( though no LBC's were present [an obvious oversight by the director]).
showed us some cutting edge technology, of the day. And played on our social fears.

Nope not China syndrome.
perhaps a better hint would be fear of federal gov't.

A famous line from the show is:
"have I ever denied you anything?"

Three Days of the Condor!

Yep.

one of the few movies I thought better than the book.
("Six Days of the Condor" by James Grady: (1st book btw))
