TR2/3/3A TR3 wiper wheel boxes

Have a Triumph 59 TR3A. Have purchased wheel boxes from Moss and the Roadster Factory. They both have sent me 32 tooth wheel boxes.
The parts cars I have (TR2, TR3 and TR3A) have 22 tooth wheel boxes. The 32 tooth wheel boxes sweep about 90 degrees, the 22 tooth sweeps about 140 degrees. Have call both companies and they indicate that the 32 version is the only one they have ever sold and have not had any complaints. Has any one purchased wheel boxes with the 22 tooth gears and from whom. Have searched the Web and have found dealers in the UK who have 22 tooth parts. For reference the 32 tooth wheel box is about 1.8" tall, the other ~1.3 (guess).

Thanks for any help in advance

Chuck,

I have a TR3A and 2 TR6s - didn't realize the difference in wheelbox tooth count. Maybe you can refurb your old ones. In theory you could use the other 'side' of the wheelbox gear. If they're stuck, put some light oil in the shaft and try to free them up.

Don't know the tooth count but there are definitely at least two different wheelboxes. My very early 56 TR3 with single speed no park wipers were very different than later TR3 and my TR6 wheelboxes. Took a long time to track down wheelbox I was missing. As I recall, the wheel is much larger on early car. Here are a couple of pictures of mine, but teeth don't show. Cheers, Mike

Yes these look like the TR2/TR3 small mouth. I found the 22 tooth parts on Ebay at NOS locators. He did verify that
they were 22 tooth wheel boxes.
Thanks for all the replies.

Chuck,
We looked at our stock and they all have 22 teeth for you application. Can you tell us what part number you ordered and, if not from us, who you ordered them from so we can see if we have an issue? I posted a reply to your post on another forum but haven't heard back from you.

Would like to resolve this if we have a problem.

Thanks,

Shawn

I just took a look at my wheelbox collection, 6 in all. I have some TR2 wheel boxes that are what is displayed by MGedit, they have a threaded end for the bolt on wiper arms. I then have 4 TR3 boxes with 22 teeth but a fluted end for the push on wiper arms. The change point was TS 12567, your info indicates your working on TS 40728 meaning you need the push wiper arms as well as the wheel boxes. You may want to check your entire setup and be sure you have all the parts that match up to what your building. If you need the proper wheel boxes for your car, I have them and would sell them. PM me for details.
