TR4/4A Dove

Very, very cool! In all honesty, though, the one photograph in the "barn" would've been enough. Then WASH THE DARN THING, and THEN take the rest of your photos. I think everyone knows what dirt looks like; the vast majority of us would rather know what the CAR looks like!

Besides the high price, I think another reason for the sparse sales of the Dove is the fact that, at least according to my eyes, they are not particularly attractive.

The Dove is a design that truly makes one appreciate the MGBGT, even though its moniker is reminiscent of an oppressed sexual minority.

FWIW:

"By Nigel Matthews
If you think the Dove looks like the Triumph equivalent of an MGB GT you would be absolutely correct, except it predated the latter by two years.
The Dove name derived from L.F. Dove and Co. of Wimbledon, a large Triumph dealership in London whose owner came up with the idea of building the car."

Btw: above quote came from this site:

Am I correct in thinking the name was Dové and pronounced Doe-vay?

I think you are right.

though when I first read Rut's post (& not knowing anything about the Dove).
I was wondering if the name was a political statement.
Since, during the early 60's , British PM Wilson was walking a tightrope between US pressure to get British boots in SE Asia & British public opinion that was strongly against getting involved in that war.

That would have been a good story.....
