I'm planning on leaving on September 11,for a week.
I'll be visiting Family there,but would like to know of clean,affordable motels,from
Portland,as well as good places to eat.
I'm planning on going up I5,to 205,to I84,to 395 (Pasco),to I90,to
St Regis,MT,& over to Big Arm,& on to Kalispell.
Hoping to take the GT,but it might need too much work to drive that far.
Also looking for stations that carry ethonal-free gas.The puregas website seems to be
very outdated,as they show locations in CA.,where you can only buy it for off-road use.
 
Doug, have a great trip! The Flathead Valley is a BIG outdoor playground. When we need a motel we find a Motel 6, affordable and fairly consistent.
 
Doug, we just booked our entire trip to the UK etc using Trivago - great app, searches a bunch of websites and shows reviews - you can also specify what you want - 3 start or better or ???

Oh, you plan ahead. When we went to the UK:
Customs: What's your itinerary?
Me: We don't have one, we're going to wing it.
Customs: Wing it?
Me: You know, play it by ear.
Customs: You Americans have a great deal of trouble with English, don't you.

Think you must have got a customs official with a between ear deficit. 'Wing it' is a phrase I (and others) frequently use and do (just don't tell my boss)!

I was stationed at Malmstrom AFB in Gt Falls when I got married. We honeymooned at Flathead Lake.
 
Great country. You need to come up for a visit sometime. Re-live some old memories.
