Leroy Joppa ? Austin Healey Stuff on eBay

Car Keds? Who knew?

My first reaction was who would buy someone else's engraved glass trophy? Then it occurred to me that it would be a lot cheaper/easier to buy someone else's trophy to put on your mantel than to create a car or develop skills to earn your own.

Yeah, it's just stuff but I'm bummed I never met the Joppas. They sounded like a great couple. I joined the modified Healey club a bit before Leroy passed away.

I think the auction of the Joppas' stuff has made us sad for their passing and for the all too real glimpse it has given of our own mortality. But I've tried to look at it another way. All those plaques, trophies and coats bedecked with patches of various Healey events are testaments to the great times the Joppas had with their Healeys and Healey people throughout their lifetimes. Those are the things of lasting value, not a t-shirt, a dash plaque or an empty bottle of maple syrup.

Yeah, but when I look at my bottle, I remember how deliciously tasty that maple syrup was, and what a unique rally prize.

Testimony to a HLY Life:

When we are young and having lotta fun
It never crosses our minds some day it will end.
Just a shure as the sun gonna rise.
We won't no longer need our prise.
All the trophies , T shirts and goodies only testify'.
We really lived we didn't just come and then die.

Get along little doggie get along.:cowboy:

Well said. I would like some of that maple syrup though!
