I still have not changed my position on this thread. God does not favor the selling of any Triumph. He commissioned their construction with the intention that they be willed upon death.

I forgot all about this post; it is so unbelievable and bizarre that I was stunned and almost afraid to comment. The restoration of the tr2 and all the good lessons you shared are the outcome that really is more than money, I hope, maybe, kinda sorta, well as long as you and yours are fine.

Wow, that's quite a story. Sorry to hear about all the damage. Just be happy you didn't lose the house, which was a real possibility.

I found this site on lightning protection, and the info looks pretty good to me: https://stormhighway.com/protection.php. One point it makes, on the page telling how lightning protection systems work, is that probably nothing can protect electronics if the house gets a direct hit. It doesn't mention this, but you can get a tremendous power-line surge even if a lightning bolt doesn't hit a power line directly. In that case, a surge protector or UPS (uninterruptible power supply) might provide protection. I think it's one of those "do what you can and hope for the best" situations.
 
It does seem God is particularly fond of Triumph's.....he even assigned an entire division of vocally talented Angles to watch over Heralds.....
 
So, have you invested in lightning rids yet? Around here (MO at the moment), older houses fairly bristle with them; I suspect because a new house without the rods never gets a chance to get old.

Dad's house (which dates to a few years after the civil war) took a hit just the other day. Woke me up, but the only "damage" was that the lead to one of the rods turned bright green.
