1275 build

Please don't give me any undue grief over this! The machine shop that did all my machine work on both MGB engines and on my 1275 also builds engines and they come with a 100,000 mile warranty backed by Federal Mogul. That said I called my guy and asked him to assemble my 1275 since I'm consumed by Bugeye assembly and I'm getting farther and farther behind. I have about 2-3 days every 2 weeks to devote to my Bugeye since SWMBO has decided we need to travel while we can and spend time at the beach.
i have everything that I ordered from Hap and most of the stuff is owned by Federal Mogul now, so I may get a warranty out of this, but no holding of breath! Ok, here's what cinched it for me...$125 to assemble the short block or $300 for everything and this is the best friend deal. He also came to my house to install both MGB engines and do anything else I couldn't do as well as reviewing my work.

Sounds like a great deal to me. Wish I was closer to your shop when it comes time to rebuild Baby Blue's 1275.

Just to clarify...all the machine work had been done previously and this is only assembly.

$125? That is nothing. Think how much you pay a technician to plug in the OBD2 reader when they "fix" your modern car. You got a great deal !

Sounds like a great deal!

There's no shame in farming out work when you are out of time. There are only so many hours, and sometimes you just need more hands on the task then you have. Good luck with it, and you'll be driving that Bugeye that much sooner!

Drew,
Im lucky to have such a talented friend and he would probably do it for free if I let him, BUT I've assembled every part of this car besides the paint. I love to tinker and this car and forum have taught me so much I'll be ready to tackle everything on the TR4a. I thought about farming the engine work out for quite some time before I made the call yesterday and the 'I did that' factor looms large. Yes, I'm the guy that the home repair people talk about when they say 'we'll repair what your husband fixed'.

This sentence from my Nasty Boy build page always rings true:

"Lots of progress, mostly because I paid someone else to do most of the work."

"Sometimes the best tool in the toolbox is a credit card". I understand the logic and can accept the fact that I can't do everything before I get TOO old!
