Today marks 48 years since I purchased my first Bugeye.

I still own 95% percent of it, which will eventually be reassembled on a rust free tub I have owned for the last 20 years.(original car was from Detroit) Replacement car is a California car.

"what a long strange trip it's been"

Gerard - you win. I bought two in 1972 - the first was a first car for Fran, but it was a bad choice on my part as it didn't run and needed more work than I was capable of. The second ran, but had burnt exhaust valves etc. etc. The second one is parked in front of the house for the first time in about 5 years (and needs a bit of brake work and miles on it); the second is in the garage and - per my other threads - still a ways away from being back on the road - we've stored it since purchased. So our first 'ones' were in 1972, and a mere 44 years ago. Sure wish us all well! Doug

haha, Thanks Rick, nice of you to say.

I think your a little ahead of me in ownership years, aren't you?

Are those badges available anywhere anymore?

Congrats, Gerard. You've gained a lot of knowledge over the years that you've selflessly shared on the Sprite list and other forums like this one. Thanks a lot. Two more years and you can get one of these for your own Sprite anniversary:

I guess I got into the LBC ballgame a bit on the late side -- coming up on 3 years this summer. Although, I repeatedly get asked if I am the original owner of the car. I would have had to have been about 18 months old if I was.

I bought one of the last remaining roundels from him a few years ago, but I didn't remember he made these badges too. I'm guessing they are gone, but will check with him. Thanks!

Gerard,

I bought my first bugeye in 1967, but went a few years without one so you've logged more than me. Colin Dodds had the original emblems made (an arrow and a roundel) Don't know if he still has any, but you might contact him: Colin@SpriteParts.com.au

I can match you in years of ownership of a British car but not of a Sprite. Friends had me convinced I wouldn't fit in one so I'm only a fairly recent convert. Always liked the concept of a BE and picked up a local rat. You just can't beat a car you don't worry about thrashing and that car has led to four other Spridgets !!

Kurt.

An impressive anniversary. I haven't done anything that long, but then I haven't even BEEN that long, so there is that.
