A former student took his family from Wisconsin down to Florida for the holidays. They went "swamp walking" a few days ago, and had a bit of a surprise. Paul snapped this visitor just below the raised walk where they were standing. When I first saw the photo, I thought it was a Rorschach test!

Always see these when visiting sister in Fla. Just remember all waters can be a habitat. Wife was paddleboarding in a bayou for the first time. I told her to stay clear of the tall grasses as she is not a good swimmer. Next day we were told they had sighted an alligator in the grass.

All the ones in our ponds I have given names
Wally, Walter , Willy, and Wilma

How about "Leatherhead"

I hooked a small bass in Florida last year and had a gator challenge me. I guess I was fishing in "his" pond. I managed to scare him off by raising my arm and warning him to back off.He then sneaked around the pond and attempted to approach from the other side but I caught him and shook my fist and he stopped in his tracks. He was about a six-footer. I threw the bass back. That same day, I was also bitten by fire ants. Florida is a dangerous place, I tell you what.

Tom, That is a really cool photo.

Don, that was nice of you to think of me when you named one of your gators.

You know...as I was typing that I thought the same thing
