Candy bar mystery car

This is a scan of a candy bar wrapper - I'm trying to identify the car & location. At first I thought it's an Alfa at Brooklands, Monza, or Avis but the nose isn't quite right. It looks like the artist knows his stuff, so I suspect it's an actual car, probably painted from a photograph. It's green, so I think it's British and probably Brooklands. I thought it might be an ERA but haven't found a decent match.

Any ideas?

(The company has a very interesting web site at www.classic-wheels.be ).

I was under the impression that the car that wore number 2 back then was a Hispano-Suiza. But of course it depends on what year that was.PJ

I poked through their website, and that image is described as "Delicious Belgian chocolate extra dark 72% tablet 100g. Presented in a wonderfully designed wrapper with stunning water paint retro styled green race car evoking the glamour of the early 50’s era. Contains 72% of cocoa."

Matter of fact - nearly every car image is described as "evoking the glamour of the early 50's era".

So I'm guessing the artist is just "inspired" by classic images.

I think race cars looked a bit different by the early 50's era. That looks more like 20's or 30's to me.

An email to the chocolate company brought the following response this morning:

Although I asked, no information about the track was supplied.

A Bugatti Type 37?

Hmmm - looks like the Type 37 to me. What clues tell you it doesn't look like a Bugatti?

The nose shape is just wrong for a Bugatti. Much too rectangular, well except for the round top, of course.

Hard to tell from the pic. Please send me the bar for closer examination and I will return the wrapper to you (I love dark chocolate.) BTW, looks more like a Bug than anything else to me as well. Definitely not an ERA, that rad shell is more rectangular and ERAs have a vertical line down the center of the rad. OTOH, don't think I've ever seen a BRG Bugatti

That's how I see it also. Plus, Bugattis look delicate on the track and this car seems too "squat" or something. The front track seems too wide and I'd expect to see more pronounced negative camber. And green?

Whatever - it's a decent enough label for a candy bar.

(Nice try, Rick).

A Bug with "artistic liberty" applied.

That is not a Bugatti. I'd say it's just an imaginary car on a Brooklands-like track.

I agree with Roger, it's just an artists impression of an imaginary race car. PJ

C'mon, guys - it's a CANDY BAR WRAPPER!
