Hughes, James E.
72, of Mesa, AZ passed away on Feb. 10, 2013. Born in Evanston, IL and grew up in Ellwood City, PA. He had a 21-year career in the Army in Psychological Operations, Radio and TV, with five tours in Korea and Vietnam. Later he attended ASU Law School, but began teaching broadcasting at Phoenix College instead. He was heavily involved in the Masonic fraternity, as a Past Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery (2005), Past Most Illustrious Grand Master, Cryptic Masons (AZ 2008), and Associate Bethel Guardian to Bethel #13, Job's Daughters (2010-2012). In his spare time he researched, built, and drove 1960s TR3s. He is survived by his wife Suejane Hughes, three daughters, and 4 grandchildren: Lisa Pearman with children Race and Sydney; Krissy Elwood (Stan) with son Nolan; and Kim Carter with daughter Brianna; as well as sister Marilyn West (Bill) and brother Billy Hughes. A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the Apache Wells Community Church in Mesa, refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Jim's name to the Cryptic Masons Medical Research Foundation (CMMRF) at PO Box 1489, Nashville, IN 47448-1489 or the Apache Wells Community Church Memorial Fund.
