Jag lightweight coupe

I thought you were talking about the *real* Jaguar E-type Lightweight Coupes. The first picture below is an E-type lightweight driven at LeMans by the late, great Bob Grossman, a former member of our EMRA club.

The lightweights had hoods with hundreds of rivets and welded-in louvers, plus lots of other strange features. Ford has a vintage race team of E-type Lightweights....I saw 2 of them at Lime Rock in '04.

Greg Whitten, a big collector out here has one of the original E-Type Lightweight racers. Very nice car. (Nice guy too.) ALthough I'm more partial to his DB3racer, which has to be one of the prettiest cars ever made.

DB7/9 anybody.

Methinks Jaguar and Aston are talking to each other just a little too much!

I agree. Also, the grill looks like it came straight out of a Ford Taurus.

The shape is gorgeous, although some of the details are overwrought. The aluminum/chrome (?) accents on the vent openings are a bit over the top, and I really don't like the wheels. The interior has also succumbed to the "Hollywood Interior Decorator interprets Industrial Design" school of thought so prevalent now, as exemplified by the new Mini. But the shape itself is stunning.

I also thought it looked way too much like an Aston. Our local Jag dealer is also an Aston dealer, so I wonder how they are going to sell the product: "Umm these cars are pretty much look the same and have similar performance, and will be worked on by the same incompetent mechanics here at the shop...but yeah, this one here is $45,000 more."

I don't like it. The front clip ruins it. Makes it look like Aston Martin meets ricer boy racer. I also thought the thread was about the old lightweight E types when I saw it. If they make it I hope to god they change the front clip.
