T-Series Who Knows about Old TD Holley Carbs

We've just scored an old HORNE SPORTS dual Holley Carb setup for MG TD's and any info would be helpfull. Thanks, I can post pics if needed.

I have a list of every Holly carb ever made up to mid 1970s and their applications. I can find no application for the MG engine. What are the numbers on the carb and can you post some photos? I might be able to find something that way. There were some "Off The Wall" setups for Holly carbs that were never approved by the manufacture. They were a more private type setup that individuals might come up with to satisfy their needs. Sometimes they worked and sometimes they didn't. I think I saw a Winfield setup for an MG race engine once.

I couldn't find any numbers on the carbs except pat. numbers. They have cool clear glass float bowl covers. Here are some pics.

Looks like an Austin Mini single HIF44 SU manifold.

This is probably your carburetter. It's a Holly 1904 model. I'm saying this because it's the only single barrel one I know of with a glass bowl.

As far as the manifold is concerned, Horne made manifolds for various applications. Here's one for a 1950s V8 setup.

Oh I should have mentioned, anyone who thinks a pair of SUs are a pain to set up, should first try a 4 duce setup like this engine had or a 6 duce setup. You'll love the SUs after that!

That carb looks exactly like the one used on the Judson supercharger for the Sprite/Midget.

Your right, but they carry different carb numbers, these according to PJ are 1904's and the ones on the Judson superchargers are Holley 2042's. We picked up a Judson Supercharger at the same time as this setup.

I think the number you are looking at is a designation number. It should read 2042AAS. I'm pretty sure it indicates what application it applies to. The 2042 series was standard on the 1952 to 1957 Ford cars with a 223 engine and standard on the 1956 and 57 trucks with the 223 engine. They were used on many cars, Ford Falcon, Nash Rambler etc, just jetted different and with automatic transmission cars they had a dash pot added. It is still a 1904 model and it should also have a glass bowl, unless it has been changed over the years. The glass bowls are easy to break. Be careful, I don't think they are available new.
