That is one of the two transmission tunnel braces. They bolt in under the prop shaft and serve as supports / stiffeners for the hand brake. It took two days to install them on my 1956. My experience indicates that the tunnel and handbrake should go in prior to the floor boards. I had the floors and tunnel installed and bolted in when I tried (in vain) to fit the two brackets. I finally used a scissor jack to help spread things enough to slide them in place. It's amazing just how flexible an MGA is when enough force is applied in the right place...

Good evening to all fellow LBC nuts, Yodas, Jedis, and assorted denizens of questionable character!!!

Mr. daimlerdb18 has suggested that these parts are for the handbrake support. If so... I can't find a diagram that shines any light on the topic...

Just to make sure that these mystery parts are what has been suggested.... A better picture is humbly presented for your consideration:

Ya got me. I'm thinkin underside somewhere. Body most likley, but I know I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.
I'm not sure if they are for the E-brake. But It's been 2 and a half years since I've been down and dirty in an "A"

Daimlerbd18,
Wow , you went way beyond the call of duty... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif Thanks sooo much for the picture. It IS the part... I just don't remember removing it....

Actually, I am also retoring an AH 100-6 and was worried that one of its parts got mixed up with the A...

Thanks again...

Hey Ron, If you got the parts mixed up would the completed car then be an MGAustin or a AAH-MG? Glad to help.
Braver than I, restoring two cars...it's like having to keep up with two girlfriends.
