Hi guys - after several years of faithful service on fast road rally events the TR8 has developed a scraping noise from the passenger side rear axle area. It is rotation based, but is not the wheel bearing. It will stop making the noise in neutral, comes back when power is transferred. Her differential has the right oil level in her and the right type of oil.
The noise requires the drive train to be engaged, if you put the clutch in it goes away.
The noise is louder in 2nd gear than 3rd or 4th. The noise is coming from behind the seats / rear of the car, I would have expected gearbox noise to be under the front/middle section. But odd that 2nd gear is so much louder. A diff wouldn't wear in just one gear, would it?
Any ideas?
Thanks
