TR2/3/3A TR3A wiper cable question?????

I have installed my rebuilt wiper system and all is well EXCEPT that on the passenger side there is about 1.5" of unshielded cable hanging out the end. Am I missing some sort of closure tubing shield? If I don't do some thing, when the wipers are on, that worm cable will eat up my windshield demister vent. Not a good thing.

Your thoughts as always greatly appreciated.

Does sound like you are missing a section of casing. There should be a short section that doesn't go anywhere, and just protects the end of the rack. Stanpart 108860, but I can't find a drawing of it.

Yep Randall, that's what I was thinking. I have some extra casing, I'll cut off a piece and put it in. You know when I put it in I thought it odd that they would just let it dangle out like that. Think I'll put a plug in just to keep the grease from dribbling out.

Interestingly enough Don I was able to find a reference to it in the TR2-3A book and it sports the same StanParts catalog number.
I was able to make one out of an old piece of tubing I had.

Hi all does anyone know if the dash mounting studs in Pied’s picture are threaded or welded in. I have a broken one and before I try to unscrew it I thought I would ask.

sp, are you talking about the mounting point at the top behind the dash?

I believe they are welded. You could probably replace one by riveting in a captive nut and threading a stud (or bolt) into it, though.

Yes right there where the defroster bolts up.
