Single [double jet] windscreen washer questions...

Is this the only style of single jet windscreen washer fitted to early 100/6 models?

Seems like my car used to have an exagerated diamond shaped one when it was in San Francisco (some 25+ years ago).

Also, what does the fitting on the underside look like? It seems to be a 1/4 x 28 thread, so I guess I can machine/weld something up to accept the tubing, but it would be nice to see what it's supposed to look like...

Thanks!

I believe that to be the only type of washer jet used on Longbridge BN4s. I have never seen a triangular one.

I will check my car when I get chance to see if I can determine whats underneath! I'll keep you posted.

Thanks Derek.

My car was built at Abingdon, but it is a very early 2-seater that still had the glass reservoir and single squirter. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Randy - the photos, show the correct windscreen washer unit for the Longbridge "featured" BN4. Just for informational purposes, what is is the car # of your Abingdon BN4 with the Longbridge "features"? Jim /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

That is very interesting - I hadn't realised that some early BN6s had a single washer.

However this probably makes sense because we know that the glass washer bottle was introduced from BN6 #1182 - its logical to assume that the complete new assembly was introduced at the same time. This would include the Bakerlite washer push with white lettering and also the two washer nozzles. If this is the case then your car would have had the old style chrome washer push. Do you know if it did.

You can see photos of these original fittings on the 100-Six site at

Correction to above. Of course it should have said the PLASTIC water bottle was introduced from #1182. It was glass until then.

I looked at my single washer and it seems to be fastened in place by a simple washer and nut. It is fairly easy to get at under the dashboard. My car was totally rebuilt so I can't say that type of fastening is original.

Thanks Derek, the link showed some interesting details.

I used to have the all chrome washer pump, but it disintegrated a couple decades ago (the internal rubber just crumbled and the stem was dangling). I have no idea what happened to it.

I have devised a plan to make the fitting for the underside of the screen jet, just need the time to implement it.
