Post Alternator conversion: Ignition light

The ignition light stays on after I start the car, there is no battery drain and I am stumped... I check the battery with a meter and it reads about 14.5 volts when idling and just under 13 volts with the car off. The ignition light glows bright in the the "on" position and when I start the car it gets slightly dimmer and stays that way. Any ideas?

I WILL figure this electrical stuff out someday, but it looks like it may take a while.

What type alternator, and what is the wattage of the bulb?

I bought my '79 with a "new" bosch alternator (That's all I know about it)

The charge light has glowed and flickered to varying degrees for my entire ownership. I consider it part of the car's "charm"

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. In this case, it really ain't broke, it's just slightly illuminated.

I had a similar problem with mine after I switched to a lucas alternator. I switched the bulb and "bob's yer uncle". I do not remember if it was to a higher or lower wattage, but the flicker went away.

The only problem is my light didn't stay on before the alternator swap. I'm guessing it could be a bad connection with the white ignition wire from the bulb the the ignition switch.

The bulb could be part of it since the higher output of power will cause extra juice to run through places where it doesn't need to be and has nowhere else to go.
