It's here! The TR3A I bought from a BCF member just arrived this morning here in Connecticut (day after a minor blizzard).

I can't see how to post an album of pictures here, so this is a link to today's pictures:

My newly-arrived TR3A

Thank you all for your advice and help. Especially to Pete, Harry, and Motor Age Transport.

Congratulations Tom! She looks pretty darned good!!!

Check all of the fluid levels and the operation of the brakes in a safe area before you do anything else.

As soon as it warms up, you can wash that engine area down and determine if there are any wiring issues or fuel/oil leaks to contend with.

Krud Kutter, may remove some of the over spray that I noticed in a few of the pictures and will degrease things as well. Just keep it off of the fresh exposed paint, just in case. It's biodegradable and safe, but just to be sure.

The gauges and finish of the dash are a minor issue at this point, although you will need to keep an eye on your fuel level.

You know where we are if you need us.......

Nice looking car, Tom, looks like mine, but shiny! I really like the look of the top and red wheels, very "period". What's her comission number? It'll seem like a different car when you take the top off; being an MG guy, that you know.

Glove box cubby boxes are available thru TRF, get the mounting kit as well. I found it's relatively easy to refresh the interior, cleaning gauges and such... If you're going to redo your heater, (from another post?), that's a good time to clean/replace the gauges, check wiring, repaint center panel, etc.

As Paul sez, "We're here", to help you enjoy her sooner and safer! Have fun!

Well done Tom.
That looks like a nice solid, honest car that you can enjoy driving without worrying about it. I hope it goes as well as it looks.

Glove box cubby is cardboard. I made one from metal for... well actually many cars, but I was going to mention my old TR4. The wiper motor wire is for the wiper parking system. It provides a ground on the gearwheel which releases when the wiper arms are in the parking position.

Nice paint, is it fairly stock? If you make your own glove box I would second the metal recommendation plus making it slightly shorter than stock. Was the transporter open or closed? did they have a std. mileage charge plus fuel surcharge? How much time did it take to get the car after contracting them? If they had to use much salt after that minor blizzard, resist the temptation to get it out there until those roads look reasonably clean and then Have Fun.

Great. You'll really enjoy the 3 driving experience, classic elbows out pre-war feeling. The combination of a solid and fast (for it's time) motor and disc brakes makes for a lot of fun without worry in modern traffic.
That 4 banger will really respond to tuning and can really sing and move when done right.
Enjoy.

What a beautiful car! I'll bet you can't wait for that snow to melt!

Enjoy it and drive the wheels off it. Congratulations!
