My Bugeye went Ka-Boom!

Well.....sort of. Yesterday I spent a few hours replacing the fuel pump in a friends car and he offered me a soda as I left. It was an RC cola and I just didn't feel like drinking it (I prefer Pepsi). Anyway, I put it in the Bugeye in the space between the tunnel and the seat bottom (behind me to my right) and forgot about it. Today I was out and about and stopped at a gas station to get an iced tea.....when I got back to my car and sat down I heard a huge BOOM. I had no idea what just happened then I saw the can:

Ya gotta love it! Now I have to remove the carpet and clean up the sticky mess.

Mythbusters said that this couldn't happen.
I had (at least) one explode in the back of our
'78 Fairmont wagon.Not a pretty site.

What a mess that will make! That sticky stuff gets into the smallest of crevices. I know, I once had a large plastic
Coke bottle explode in a Fiat and the spray was such that we had to pull over and wait till it quit to get back in the car.
Horrible mess.
Good luck cleaning the goo up.

The soda spill or the wagon? :jester:

mrsprite, I hope it isn't as bad to cleanup as it sounds.

Actually,the wagon was a cool family hauler.Black,with
Mustang TRX wheels.Drunk driver hit it.I miss that car.
If I remember right,I actually hauled the TR6 on a
trailer behind it.

It cleaned up pretty well. I have a rubber mat underneath the carpet, so the carpet took the brunt of the spill. A quick wash and it was good to go.

I spent the rest of the day removing the exhaust header so I could install the heat wrap. Hopefully that cures my hot driveability issues.
