What do you think of the cam gears? I've not seen them in person.
Why that flywheel? What's the weight difference?
And how much machining time was actually involved?
The gears are very nice looking, and I got to see them on another modified JH engine before I bought them, seemed to work just fine and the owner was well pleased with them. One minor point was that I had a set of proper timing marks added to them by my machinist to help when setting them up, I thought it odd not to have them as standard.
The steel flywheel is a lot lighter than the old iron one. My super-accurate (?) bathroom scales showed it weighed about 13 pounds. This was sourced from Lotus bits here in the UK and came as NOS so it was brand new and needed drilling for the pressure plate mounting lugs, thoug as I recall the bolt holes for that were already in place. Maybe because I used a Toyota plate the hole arrangement differed.
There was a lot of machine work involved. I had the cylinder liners replaced, everything balanced, etc. I don't know the hours of machine work involved (though I've got a umber written down somewhere), but it all came to a sizeable sum of £ & p when done.
But it is a work of art, and a beauty to admire....
I do plan on dyno'ing it when done. I feel I can reasonably hope for 200-220 HP....
