I just purchased a restored 1972 MGB-GT that is tuned for sea level and I live at 7500'. It seems to be running a little rich.... Is there a tuning guide I can use to retune the SUs ? or can anyone help... I live in Monument Colorado..... Ron

Welcome, Ron!

SUs are great carbs, and with a little practice you can impress your friends easily with your newly acquired skills. There's a wealth of info online; here's one of the better write-ups:

https://www.sucarbs.com/?page_id=20

Follow the instructions, especially when you get to the "Test fuel mixtures" part. Once you've done it a few times it'll be second nature.

Oh, and post pictures - love to see the GT in the Rockies.

You'll likely need to change the needles in the carbs to run leaner -- I'm at 6500' in Utah and had to go to leaner needles in my cars.

The tuning process is the same as it is at sea level, but you likely won't be able to adjust it enough without swapping needles. As for which ones you need, that will depend. You can contact Joe Curto (https://joecurto.com/meet-joe-curto), he's one of the gurus of SU carbs and he can likely set you up with what you need.

I can get non-ethanol where I live, so that goes in the old cars when possible.

Drew is on plug in power!

Actually, the Bugeye is on carb power -- meaning I have to eat a lot of carbs for energy so I can push it around.

I'm at 5500 feet ASL and I still have the stock needles in my carbs, but I will say, if I was a little higher I would have to put in leaner needles as I only have about 4 flats left on the adjustments. But it runs like a champ where it is now. PJ
