Wow, Rick, that guy had a heck of a collection. I dated a girl whose dad had a 1911 Overland speedster. It was lost in a fire and the one this guy had is one of two known to exist! Now I know why her dad was never the same after that car went up in flames!
Kurt.
Not bad -- a 40% increase in HP. I guess a similar installation on a 1275 would yield around 90 HP. It sounds like there would be detonation issues unless you ran it on AvGas or Racing Fuel, though.
I had a Judson on a 190SL many years ago. IIRC it would put out about 7 or 8 psi. Did not turn it into a 300SL but enough to seriously feel the difference. The vanes were too noisy though even with excessive oil drip. Also, regulating that oil drip was pretty fussy.
Maybe, but it won't perform the same as a 1275, and if it's a HC engine, things will get very hot. The stock carb on it is terrible and allows full to pool in the manifold when idling. On takeoff, you'll have a big black cloud of smoke. You'll get better results with a custom manifold and adapting an SU.

I agree, Gerard. A fellow in our local club has a Judson on a BE and it is a can of worms. All he can say about it is it look's cool! The Roots type is a better compressor than the Judson vane type.
