GT6 GT6 MK1 Header?

As I rebuild the motor for my 1967 Mk1 GT6 restoration project I find that one of the tubes on the exhaust manifold is cracked/broken completely off, about 3" in from the mating surface.

I am looking into area cast iron repair experts but does anyone know where a person might locate a header for my Mk1 motor (exhaust and intake ports all in-line, not staggered like later years)?

Thanks for any ideas you might have,

Seabrook, I think this will be a tough search. I've had my Mk1 since '83 and have looked but never found (or seen or heard) a header for the early head. Original manifolds do show up on ebay from time to time (of course there are none there now).

Give Scott at Team Triumph a call in Ohio. He has all kinds of stuff. If he doesn't have it he can point you in the right direction.

There is a slim chance I might have an exhaust manifold that would fit. Originally from a Sports 6/Vitesse 1600, but maybe the manifolds were the same? I think the heads were.

There are also places around that will custom-make headers. Not cheap, but maybe not too bad (especially compared to some of the prices I've seen for ready-made GT6 headers).

There's a place near me that has a mk1 GT6 out back with what looks like a good manifold on it.

Boy was I wrong. CinneaghTR got it right with Spitbits, they're showing a SS one for the Mk1 (other venders show them too). My apologies.

Thanks for help, all. Sorry for the delayed response,
Yes, the stainless header on spitbits looks great. But I can't do it at $750. I'm going to give the local guy a chance to repair my broken manifold, I think.
Thanks again...

Seabrook, I'd like to bet that you can have someone fabricate new headers for less than $750. Ask around, maybe folks in your local Brit car club or Triumph club might help.

Also check out Rimmer Bros. in England and other Brit Triumph specialists.

And please let us know what you decide. MKI GT6s are getting scarcer than hen's teeth, it's always good to hear from someone who's restoring one.

Post photos if you can. Beautiful cars, MKIs. :yesnod:

I have two intake/exhaust manifold gaskets you are welcome to for the cost of shipping if you want them.

Good luck.

Hey, thanks! I'll give this guy a call tomorrow although not sure how MkI headers might have ended up on a 1970 car...

I think I was able to get what I need thanks to the referral from Andrew!
In fact, I also picked up a stainless steel exhaust system to go with the header. Can't wait to hear it.
Trying to insert photo tag here (if I got the pics location right in the tag...)
Thanks again, all.

Whew, I think I finally figured it out. Who knew- the file name is case sensitive??? Duh! Anyway, hopefully these are the headers fed ex will bring me soon.

So...
I finally got my "new" header painted and bolted on. Then dropped the engine back into the frame. Looks great! but.... its just barely, barely touching the frame (see pic). Of course this is not a problem while the engine is not a-running...

Any ideas? Do I dare trim (grind) a little away on the frame? Any other options? How much clearance should I shoot for? As always, thanks in advance. -Dave

Any reason an intake and a header off a 6 wouldn't fit a GT6
