MGB-GT GT Shifter Rattle

It was a really nice day,so I took the '67 GT
out for a drive.I even made it by the car wash,where
I found out that it's Yellow - not Brown.
Anyway,while driving the shifter rattles.If you
pull slightly up on it,it stops.This is an all-syncro
transmission.Any ideas?

Sorry, can't find my Moss catalog right now but had the same problem last year. There is a nylon bushing that fits at the base of the shift lever (you have to take the boot and all off) that can break or, like socks in a dryer, suddenly disappear which I replace and it made a world of difference. I think I might even have on around you can have if you give me your address and I'll send it to you. It's in the Moss catalog. I'll see if I can find the number. Gratis, of course.

On a ALL SYNCRO trans there is also a anti rattle spring and plunger that rides on the ball of the shifter. It could be missing. Also try removing the shift knob. Some shift knobs appear tight but make the shifter rattle,It make no sence to me but I have seen it many times. Bob

Both worth pursuit. The nylon bush is the usual culprit, shift knobs can sometimes separate between the threaded metal insert and the knob material causing it to "buzz".

By having it go away with lifting up, could be either one. Knob is what? Wood or leather? Or is it the stock one?
