TR2/3/3A Fuel Pump Fitting Thread

I've done some searching and not found the answer to my question. '60 TR3. What is the size and thread pitch of the fittings that go into and out of the fuel pump? I have measured the size of the rigid line coming out of the fuel pump at 5/16". Thank you for your time.

I think it is a standard (SAE) brake/fuel line fitting one can get almost anywhere - but if the issue is that you cannot get new parts to stop leaking then the problem may be that unusual olive (compression fitting) that is not so easy to source.

Also, if you have a repro pump (e.g. not marked 'AC') then some strange things have been reported with some of those.

I guess my question probably should have been are the compression fitting at the fuel pump (inlet and outlet) British Standard Pipe (BSP) thread or would they be SAE? I just ASSUMED every fitting would be BSP. The outlet side of my fuel pump fitting has seen better days for sure and I'm not to sure (yet) that someone hasn't cross threaded it at some point in the past. It screws in very deeply before gripping the pipe. I have seen and understand the "olive" issues presented here in some of the searches I have done. I'm looking for a good source of the correct size threaded fittings to replace the existing hardware.

The pump I have has 5/16th UNF and 1/4 inch copper pipe on both the inlet and outlet. The biggest problem in the UK was getting 1/4inch dia pipe and the right olives . It is possible to solder a Top Hat flange and use tube nut but you clearly need to have the nut on the pipe before you silver solder the top hat connector
cheers

Some of "new replacement pumps have metric to unf thread converters fitted which is a real P.in the A

Thank you all for your responses. I am so new to the Triumph universe. I think I have found a solution to my problem in the ole' Moss Motors catalog. They have a fitting and olive available for a very reasonable fee. I'm going to start there. Again, thanks for all the help.

The inlet line should be 5/16" od, the outlet 1/4" od. Both openings in the pump are the same SAE thread, but the outlet uses a special nut that adapts the 5/16" opening to the 1/4" fuel line.

Sorry I don't recall the exact thread offhand.

Unless things have changed, the olive that Moss sells is a modern one that doesn't fit right. Might work for you, might not. One caution, though, be careful not to overtighten the nut in an attempt to stop the leak. What happens is that the threads bottom in the pump fitting, and the relatively soft metal of the pump is easy to crack. BTDT.

I filed down two Moss olives with emory cloth so each was bigger than half and used both.
