Well gang..I took my time and tried to do it right the first time..but that never works out..anyway I finished it today and Burrr..its only 2 degrees cel.outside anyway took her out for a spin and everything seems to be just right. The fifth gear is a dream. I met Herman at the Steveston all Triumph drive in this past summer here in B.C. He is a real Gentleman for sure and so knowledgeable. I would recommend this conversion to anyone. And thanks to you folks here that helped me with a few questions that I had to resolve some small issues. Now I only have to wait 4 months for winter to be over. See you on the road.

WOW!! That's great. I've got Herman's conversion ready to go into my TR3 resto. I can't wait to get to the actual work on this. Are there any pitfalls I should watch out for?? Also, what's the deal with the stroke on the clutch pedal?? After reading through Herman's instructions, I'm still a bit confused on whether I need a pedal stop or not.

Yes you will or the bearing will project to far and wreck the O rings. It is pretty easy to do if you have some help. I just got under the car and had someone push the peddle down slowly while I tried to turn the drive shaft. When it turned in my hand I had the helper hold the peddle in that spot till I measured the distance and then put the bolt in to the firewall. One thing you must really do is read everything very thoroughly before you start and take your time. I did this whole job by myself but it would be a great help to have some help when you need it.

To see where the clutch disengages, I put the car in gear and on my knees outside the car, I pushed it forward with my shoulder and used my right hand to push in the clutch to the point that the car rolls. The pedal stop is 1/2" MORE travel from this point. duh, on level ground ok?

For a TR3 pedal stop, a single bolt will deflect to one side of the pedal because of the shape of thepedal arm and the angle of the bulkhead. I use what called an elevator bolt that has a large round washer-like head; then capped that with a crutch tip. Alternately, you can use a square u-bolt instead and cover the center of the u-bolt with a piece of rubber tubing. This will prevent any side to side deflection of the pedal off the stop. Use double nuts to lock it in.

PeterK...I was wondering about that myself..if the peddle would slide of the bolt..I may just weld a washer to the end of the bolt...just in case..I never thought of rolling the car on my hands and knees.. anyway I had the car up on jack stands..P.S. thank you for your help on the Bering issue.

Yes I did take some pictures and as soon as I figure out how to post them I will. I tried once before but screwed it all up. Could you give me the 1.2.3. tutorial on how to post pictures? Thanks

Resize them to 550 X 413 pixels, which work well here and meet the size limit.

Then "REPLY" to your message. After posting a line, go to the "FILE MANAGER" option down below the message box and BROWSE to the folder where the files are stored on your computer.

SELECT one that you want to post and then select "ADD", doing one file at a time. You can do up to a total of (5) per post. When you have them all selected, choose "DONE ADDING FILES" and then "SUBMIT".

I'm going to lunch. I'll look for them when I return.

Good luck!
