Here's a non-original idea I had.
Seems to fill the gap between the wood and the dash pad nice!

I am assuming that you pulled the wooden dash panel towards the interior and glued the vinyl top the edge of the wood?

So Tinster is confused again, already!

Will it never cease?

I didn't have another TR6 to look at so I designed
my own dashboard out of 5/8" rainforest teak.

I had it hand carved and contour sanded to exactly
butt against the fake black leather that surrounds
the teak wood. I have no gap at all.

Was I supposed to leave a gap for the piping strip
shown in the photo? Here is mine and I think it looks
pretty good with no piping piece.

Dale,
Don't be confused. Kodanja put this in as an add on to finish out his dash. The TR6 never came with any kind of filler between the dash and the crash pads.

BTW it does look nice. As does yours Dale.

As I said "non-original Idea!"

Yours looks great !

But you dont need a gap to put the piping in,
It will fit because the piping has a thin vynyl flange

Maybe I'll add the dash piping after I get the car
up on jackstands and take the front end apart
to rebuild the suspension and steering.

just kidding Paul!!!!

Wendy can add piping to the seams of the barrel that she seals you up in and sends out to sea........

Boy not everything has to be about major mechanical~

Cosmetic counts too...

Bill, I agree.

Dale's next two projects on Crypty should be very cosmetic.

1. Wash repeatedly

2. Wax after every other wash.

That'll keep him busy for awhile..........

Very nice looking. I like it. Begs the question of
how far do I go in changes from original. Frankly, there
are many rather simple changes such as this that I
think improves the finished look; but I ask myself: How
far do I go where all these minor changes add up to
devaluation of vehicle because of the time and money it
would take to revert back to original.

Asking myself: Should I really care? Is it a wrong?
Once too many changes are done, do we lose what the true
look of the car was?

Hmmm, to change or not to change. That is the question.

This has been bandied back and forth quite a bit. The general consensus seems to be: It's YOUR car, do what pleases YOU.

HTH!

BUILT TO DRIVE

Yes I belive that having a restoration 100% original LBC is favorable.

With this project,
I love having the option of changing things on this car as I feel best suit me.

My next project is going to be 100% (but no trailer queens for me~ (TR3 or 4A) hopfully soon! cant have too mant LBC's

DKN I cut out a piece of soild walnut sanded stained and varnished it, this method has been scrutinized but I think I did a fair job.

Hey, I just noticed your CD player. Nice choice!

Or wait a minute. I may have bought mine based on your recommendations. In any case, they sound great. I just wish that they didn't lose the memory when you disconnect the battery, but what can you do?
