In an effort to bump my starter in able to set my lifters, I found a problem. New solenoid in place, attached to a hand made bracket at or near original location. Good battery, good battery cables (negative ground) and a new ground strap. Still being cautious as this is the first time with real 12V attached to anything.
I briefly pulled the start switch and nothing much except what appeared to be a short at the solenoid. Disconnect battery cables and called it a day. This morning, I removed the solenoid, and found what I suspected, evidence of an arc, near where the battery cable attaches to the solenoid. I think the solenoid body came in contact with the clutch master line.
NOT TO BE SHOUTING, BUT HERE IS MY QUESTION: Does the body of the solenoid need to not be touching anything? Easily fixed. Or, as I suspect, the clutch line came in contact with the hot cable when I pulled the start button.
Thank you
