BT7 Brake Overhaul and rear hub seal replacement

I parked my BT7 last November to start my winter project of rebuilding my brakes. I posted many questions here and got great answers. I found my rear hubs seals had hardened and leaked and as you know the project got bigger and bigger.

Well, Saturday evening my 13 year old daughter helped me pump the brake to get the air out of the system. We dropped the car off the jack stands and went for a 15 minute ride. We had a blast. Even she could feel that the car was much quicker. The front brakes had been dragging so much I was way down on acceleration.

Thank everyone for the many questions you answered and for getting me back on the road.

I am sure I will be back with more posts.

I think I am going to send in my extra distributer to have it rebuilt next month. Now positive or negative ground, points or electronic? Does it ever stop?

Thanks again, Scott

I converted to Negative ground decades ago, and other than the availability of electrical accessories, there's little advantage. However, I did mindlessly plug a Garmin into it last Saturday, so I could see how fast I was going on the freeway. The destination was a CarBQ (about 20 or so cars, including four__4__Ferraris and all manner of other exotica) where MY HEALEY was voted Best of Show! But I digress, had it still been Positive ground, I may have damaged the GPS...

I used my original points/condenser until perhaps a year ago. Now I have a Mallory with not one (1) set of points, but two (2)!

So, not much to be gleened from me posting in this thread, but I just wanted to compliment you for having your daughter assist you with the hobby car. I hope that her interest with the cars in general, and your Healeys specifically continues.

They all left the factory as positive ground but that doesn't mean a previous owner did not swap polarities.
...
You will have to try and figure out if any previous owner swapped polarity. If the ends are still attached to the cables that went to the battery, you may be able to figure it out.
