Brake Rotor Clean Up

I'm restoring a GT6 and I had a quick question. The rotors are in very good shape, but the car sat for a while before I got it. As a result there is some surface rust on the rotors. Other than that they are fine. What's the best way to clean 'em up?

I'd just pull them and take them to your local brake shop and have them true them up. The rust will be gone, naturally, and you'll have a true running pair of rotors with no surging. Use new "non-metallic" pads on them!

If they're not grooved, drive 'em....after the first few brake applications, the sdurface rust wil be gone.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with having a shop turn them just to be sure they're true like Paul said....

If the rotors are in good shape, except for the rust, just use some 80 grit sandpaper and knock the rust off. This will keep the pads fresher. If there is surface damage have them turned.
