I may may be a non-wrench but when everyone says to take my TR6 back to original exhaust manifold, I listen.

I bought a beautiful, reconditioned from Ted Schmacher and I could not be more pleased. tedtsimx@bright.net Happy as a clam in a mud bank..

Ehcxhaust header well prepped, all rust takening care of, exhause flanges machined and unit prepped for high temp paint.
PLUS!!!!!!! An honest vendor who charged me the actual Post Office fee to deliver the cast irnon to to PR. $26.

I will use Ted again for sure.
New Choke cables due fro TRF next week. !!

Amos is good to go!!

dale, Ted is one of the best. We met Ted in the '70's when he was racing in IMSA and he and Christine got on like a house on fire. Just one of those people you hit it off with right away.

Dale will be fine.

Yup, agree with everyone here, Ted's cool. Stopped in at his shop on my way through Ohio few months back. Really cool old gas station that was in his family from a long way back.

Uh Frank? I won't mention any names here but I do recall a Triumph "expert" who left a 9/16 wrench in a water pump housing and then wondered why water gushed out as fast as the hose could feed the radiator.

The header looks great. What specifically did you ask for him to do? What is the cost of this service? What do you mean it is heat painted? Does he just use high temp powder paint? How long does the header paint hold up?

I had to put off the TR6 due to school, my national teaching boards, and a total restoration on my Bugeye. The Bugeye runs and looks great now, but I still have a punch list of things I am taking care of as I get time. Now that my boards are done, I am concentrating on rebuilding the TR6 engine so I can use it as a daily driver for now. How are your two cars going?

About the same. Are you still using your 6 as your driver?

Yep. I have basically been without a car for the last year in a half - it really bites. Depending on the machine shop and shape of my engine parts, I should have it running in a month or so. I don't think I will ever have a TR6 like the great ones you see on this site, but I am happy just to enjoy the ride and hear the roar of the engine for now.

Glad I don't have to do that. My wife leaves at 5:30AM and comes home anytime after 6 to 6:30PM

ichthos - I restored my 1958 TR3A 21 summers ago. I had the cast iron exhaust manifold sandblasted and then I brushed on a coating of hi-temp silver-grey paint I bought in a small can from Hirsch in New Jersey. It still looks like it was just done - in fact it looks like it has been ceramic coated. I believe that Eastwood also sell a similar paint.
