It looks like we'll be getting another road racing track here in mid-atlantic/northeast area. This adds another relatively easy tow for me.
The new race track (Dominion Motorsports) being built in Virginia The people building it have been in the track business for 60 years and just won major county approval this week. It will be just off I95 between Fredericksburg and Richmond.

This compliments the exisiting historical tracks in this area such as Watkins Glen ( https://www.theglen.com ), Lime Rock ( https://www.limerock.com/ )and Summit Point ( https://www.summitpoint-raceway.com/ ).
Summit Point built a new, smaller circuit (Shenandoah) less than 10 years ago to compliment their existing two circuits, so there's actually three circuits there (althought the Jefferson cicuit is mostly just used for FBI/CIA/ police training). I ran in the first race ever held at Shenandoah.
Many folks have heard that Thompson Motor Speedway (in Connecticut) is being re-opened for road racing in 2014 ( https://www.thompsonspeedway.com ). This is actually one of the oldest road circuits in the USA. Although the road racing circuit has been closed for years, the owners have run a circle-track circuit and golf couse on the property since the 50s. It will be interesting to see what its effect on Lime Rock will be (I'm not a great fan of Lime Rock personally).
We also have the Pitt Race, ( https://www.pittrace.com/ ) an Alan Wilson-designed circuit (formerly BeaveRun) and New Jersey Motorsports Park which has two, distinct circuits......"Lightning" and "Thunderbolt" ( https://www.njmp.com/ ). Both of these are less than 10 years old.
And Pocono has always had a road racing circuit on its infield but it was just substantially re-done and is supposed to be much better. I like Pocono and think its highly underated for road racing ( https://www.poconoraceway.com/ ).
About an hour south of Pocono, is Liberty Bell, now being built by a garbage magnate ( https://www.libertybellmp.com/ ).
And Raceway Park, a popular drag strip in central NJ opened a small road course (Suitable only for practice or "track days"....not regular wheel-to-wheel racing. But still, a good thing). It's 40 minutes from me ( https://www.etownraceway.com/road_course.aspx ).
We also have the road racing circuit at New Hampshire Motor Speedway near Louden, NH ( https://www.nhms.com/ ).
There also a new, state owned track in NY called New York Safety Track (built, apparently, on an old airport). Its mostly for police training, I think, but there are also private track-day events scheduled there ( https://www.nysafetytrack.com/ ).
And there's a new, private "county club" tracks in Monticello, NY( https://monticellomotorclub.com ) and Valley Motorsports in NH, another Alan Wilson track. ( https://www.clubmotorsports.com )
For a slightly longer pull (9 or 10-ish hours for me) we can go to Mid-Ohio, VIR, Carolina Motorsports Park, Shannonville and Mosport (the last two in Ontario)
And there is long term plans for CNYRP in NY to add road racing (they already run SCCA rally-cross).

Have I missed any?
