MGB Another new owner of an MGB checking in

Hello, everyone, I just bought a 1966 MGB this weekend. I'm pretty excited about her even though she's going to need lots of work. This is my first time to try a restore on any car, so it's going to be a challenge, but I think a fun challenge (at least the motor is intact even though it isn't running yet; first challenge). This seems to be the most active board for MG's with lots of good information, so I'll be around a lot. I've already learned quite a bit just reading a few of the posts, so thanks already for that.

Welocme! I have a feeling-no, can almost guarantee-that you'll be able to find any answers here, or at least someone who knows someone who knows the answer. So enjoy!

PS-what sort of shape is your B in?

welcome aboard,, and good luck with the project. Remember to budget at least 3x the time you think any project should take and you'll be OK. I have trouble with this

William, the engine is in very good shape. The engine is in pretty good shape, there's really no rust to be found except around the edges where the hood rested. The interior is the worst part. It was kept in a barn for no telling how many years with no top, so those floors have got to go along with pretty much everything else in the cockpit. Looking around on the internet, I think it's condition is about middle of the road of what others are starting with.

I'm in the process of prepping the car to glue some floorboards. I hope to have the process up on my website next week, providing the floors I'm replacing in the house get done this weekend.

Welcome to the best forum around. I too am a new MGB owner with a dream of making what I have, the best I can. I went through it with my TR7 for two years, so I am patient.
I have a much better starting point with the GT though.
Ask lots, and always check in, and you will always go away learning somthing here.

Chuck, I'll be watching for the floorboards stuff from you. Welding is one part of this that I won't be interested in doing myself, so if there are other methods to putting the floorboards in, I'm interested. Thanks for the comments.

Welcome, and always great to see another '66B getting back on the road. Sounds like you have the best possible situation for a restoration project, if body and engine are good, and you just need to do the interior. (Not that redoing the whole interior, including floors, isn't hard work, but to me it's the real fun work, and so satisfying to do!)

If you need tips on redoing the dash, removing the gauges, etc., checkout my tips on Chuck's site: Shadetree MG

(I redid my interior two years ago, and it came out great.)
