Hi Gang,
I hope you are all doing well. Lately, I am trying to figure out a good exhaust system for my 65. I have bought many items from Moss and some from Victoria British. They both sell stainless steel systems and that's the way I want to go.
Which system would you recommend or are there any others that I am not aware of? As always, thanks for your help.

I believe that the one Moss sells is Falcon, at least they used to. I have bought three of them and they are decent. I have heard that the Bell system is much better. Much more expensive though. There is at least one known vendor that sells Moss at 15% off if you want to go that route. I don't recall where you can get the Bell system from though.

Copied my old extractor system in s/s, used water to cut the head mating flange so as to reduce warpage

I installed Falcon s/s systems on both my 62 BT7 and 66 BJ8, several years ago. Good fit. They've held up quite well with no issues. These were purchased from Moss distributors (such as LBC Car Co. - I have no affiliation, by the way, but they have been good, and their current price for your car would be about $100 less than Moss), where you can usually get some sort of discount. These exhaust systems come up on eBay once in awhile, so if you're not in a hurry...In fact there's a Bell system for earlier AH models (not yours) on auction this week for about $600.

Cheers
D.

I just bought a Bell system to replace my 3-year old Falcon system. The steel on the ends of the front mufflers failed because it was too thin (that was the opinion of the SS welder I took it to and I agree). I am installing the Bell system in the next couple of days and would be happy to give a comparison of the two with pictures when I have them both off the vehicle. The Bell system cost me $950.00 plus shipping from Just-Brits and on first inspection it looks like money well spent. I will keep you updated as I get this together.
Later,
Drew

I use the Bell stainless. Top quality. Has a great sound. I put the BJ7 exhaust on my BJ8. No rear mufflers, better clearance, almost as quiet. The mounting holes for the straight exhaust are in the BJ8 frame.

I'd consider a mild steel system, they sound much better than the stainless ones which are made from very thin material.

Actually, the Bell systems are pretty chunky. I have one on my BN1 and it uses thick sheeting.

my bj7 had a brand new s.s system installed when i bought it, nice notes produced, had to remove it to re-weld the mounting brackets and has been working fine since, im going with a header set up now so ill be listing it for sale in the classifieds. (cheap)

Why not inquire of all what gauge and grade they use, as well as fab techniques?
I made my stainless exhaust with .050" walled tube for the straight runs. The bends were pre-fabbed U bends that had .063" walls. No tinny sound. :cooler:
