A while I posted a problem with my parking lights. The right side was 3 times brighter than the left side. After everybodies suggestions (thank you) I found the problem in the parking light socket itself (short??) There is something to be said about using NOS parts if replacing.
I thought I was doing myself a favor by replacing all the lighting sockets with new ones including the rubber sockets.
I put the old almost 60 year old one, back on and it worked fine!
The new parts you buy today are junk.
Anyhow my problem now is the turn signals. All the lights work fine including brake lights. I can't sem to get the turn signals to work.
The 8 terminal relay flasher unit is the new electronic type. (Here we go again with new parts! I know I have read that some people have had problems with them.) I am using LEDS for the rear lights only, (standard 1157 bulbs for the front parking lights.) I have also replaced the wiring harness. I think I have narrowed the problem to the round flasher unit mounted on the firewall behind the dash. When I turn the turn signal on there is no "click, clack" sound. (I know someone is going to say you need an electronic flasher when using LEDS, but I removed the LEDS and replaced the rear lights with 1157 standard bulbs with no luck.)
I have 2 questions: 1.) I am using a 3 wire flasher, but only 2 wires go the the flasher (That was what was on the car and worked fine before the restoration.) Will that work with only 2 wires? 2.) Does it matter what terminals you use on the round flasher? I think there are letters by the terminals, I just can't remember what they are. I am sure I am using the 2 outside terminals. Here > I _ I < Here if you are looking at the bottom of the flasher unit.
Thank you for all your help!
